About charging.help

charging.help is an independent Australian site that helps people work out what EV charging really costs and how long it takes. It has no advertising, no sponsored product rankings and no affiliate links.

What the calculator actually does

It is ordinary arithmetic with the assumptions left in. You enter your usable battery size, the charge levels you are going between, your electricity price and your charger's rated power. It adds charging losses, applies an average-power figure that accounts for charge-curve tapering, and shows you the energy you take from the grid, the cost and the time.

Every assumption appears on the result screen. If your car is different, change the number — the calculation updates and the screen tells you what it used. There is no machine learning behind it and no claim that it knows your specific vehicle.

It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored anywhere.

What this site does not do

Where the facts come from

Factual claims about installation, safety and tariff structures come from Australian Government, energy regulator and state electrical safety sources, each listed with the date it was checked on the sources page. Anything that is an assumption rather than a sourced fact is labelled as an assumption on screen.

Corrections and contact

Tariffs change, regulations differ by state, and mistakes happen. If a page here is wrong or out of date, it should be fixed — the fastest way is to write to the site owner through the contact address published on this domain and say which page and which claim.

charging.help is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any vehicle manufacturer, charger supplier or energy retailer. All brand and product names, where mentioned, belong to their respective owners.
